What does the Bible say about music?

1. Mankind exists to bring God pleasure.

"Thou are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." Rev. 4:11 KJV

2. God wants us to sing and play music to Him.

"O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth." Psalm. 96:1 KJV

"Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD." Psalm 150:3-6 KJV

3. God wants us to sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. " Col. 3:16 KJV

4. All music should be played to the glory of God.

"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." I Cor. 10:31 KJV

5. God is not glorified by worldliness.

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." I John 2:15,16 KJV

6. Christians should strive to be different from the world in all areas, including music.

"Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men." Matt. 5:13 KJV

"As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy." I Pet. 1:14-16 KJV

7. Music has a direct connection to our Spiritual life.

"And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord." Eph. 5:19 KJV

"And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him." I Sam. 16:23 KJV

My stand

I am a firm believer in the power of music for good and evil. In a time of compromise in the church, it is my desire to stand for Biblically sound music which seeks to glorify God in the beauty of His holiness and according to truth. It is also my desire to create and encourage church music which is not influenced by worldly stylings. I stand against Contemporary Christian Music in that it strives to be like the world and reduces worship through song to a matter of "preference." I believe that music which is offered as a sacrifice of praise to God should strive to be an acceptable sacrifice both in the spirit in which it is offered and the nature of the offering.

If you wish to inquire more into my stand in favor of traditional church music, you are welcome to send me a message below.
